A dedicated mountaineer from Steamboat Springs, Kim sustained a serious hand and wrist injury while descending Denali’s 20,310-foot summit in Alaska. Facing a complex surgery, she delivered a bold statement to her surgeon, Dr. Michael Gordon at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital—her hand had to be perfect because she planned to climb Mount Everest the following year.
